West Ham United is in negotiations with Southampton to acquire Mateus Fernandes, a talented young midfielder. According to reports, the Hammers made their move for Fernandes this week. Southampton is expected to demand a significant transfer fee, with a minimum of £30m, for the player's services. Fernandes has already made an impression at St Mary's, helping the team avoid relegation in his first season.

Southampton had previously rejected a £27m offer from Everton for another player, Tyler Dibling. Fernandes signed a deal with the Saints in 2022, committing to the club until 2029. His move from Sporting CP a year ago has been a promising one for the young midfielder.
