Gauci is an Australia international who joined Villa in January 2024 and has made two senior appearances for the team.

Before joining Villa, Gauci spent the second half of last season on loan with Barnsley Football Club.

Port Vale manager Darren Moore expressed excitement about the new addition, saying, "Joe brings experience from first-team and international football, which will create strong competition in our goalkeeping department."

Moore also welcomed Gauci to the team, stating, "He will be part of the group straight away, and we're all looking forward to working with him this season."
