The transfer deal is reportedly worth an initial €63.5 million, with an additional €10 million in add-ons. Gyokeres scored 54 goals in 52 games for Sporting last season, making him a valuable addition to Arsenal's squad.
Gyokeres is set to take the No. 14 shirt at Arsenal, a number previously worn by the club's record goalscorer Thierry Henry. This is a huge honour for the 27-year-old, who will now join the Premier League side's preseason tour in Asia.
Arsenal will face Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in Asia, where Gyokeres is expected to feature in an Arsenal shirt for the first time. He will be joined by summer signing Noni Madueke in attack, who signed from Chelsea earlier this month.
Arsenal's arrival of Gyokeres will be a major relief, as the club was without a recognised No. 9 for much of the 2024-25 season due to injuries to Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus. With Gyokeres on board, Arsenal will now be aiming for the title once more, challenging against top teams like Liverpool, Chelsea, and Manchester City.
