Ajax respects Hato's desire to leave the club, but also wants to keep him as they prepare for their first UEFA Champions League campaign since 2022. The Amsterdam club believes Hato's value is higher, with a reported asking price between €55 and €60 million.
Hato has already reached a personal agreement with Chelsea, and his agent, Humphry Nijman, has confirmed that the two clubs are in talks about a transfer. Hato joined Ajax at the age of 16 and has since become the youngest player in club history to record 100 appearances.
He is still under contract with Ajax until the summer of 2028, and it remains to be seen whether the two clubs will reach an agreement on a transfer fee.
