Gyokeres' move comes after a disagreement with Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas. He had hoped to leave the club for a lower fee, around £51 million plus add-ons, based on a perceived agreement.
Arsenal appears to have secured their main target, with Gyokeres set to join the team. His first game as an Arsenal player could be against former manager Ruben Amorim's team in the Premier League opener on August 17th, which coincidentally is Thierry Henry's birthday.
