The transaction includes a 10% profit-sharing interest on the capital gain of a potential future transfer. This means that if Lyon sells Turner for a higher price in the future, they will share the profit with the buyer. The loan to New England Revolution comes with a 3-million-euro purchase option.
Turner joined Nottingham Forest from Arsenal in August 2023 and played 21 times in all competitions before heading to Crystal Palace in the 2024/25 season. During his time at Crystal Palace, he helped the team win their first major trophy by beating Manchester City 1-0 in the FA Cup final at Wembley in May.
Lyon has also loaned Croatian international defender Duje Caleta-Car to Spanish club Real Sociedad for one year with a 4-million-euro purchase option. Caleta-Car has 33 caps and joined Lyon from Southampton in 2023.
This move could be a great opportunity for Turner to gain more experience and continue to develop his skills in the MLS.
