Al-Nassr's interest in Fernandes follows a failed attempt by rival club Al-Hilal to sign him at the end of last season. Fernandes turned down a £200m move to Al-Hilal, citing a desire to stay at the highest level and play in big competitions.
Al-Nassr's move for Fernandes has the backing of Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who is also a member of the Al-Nassr squad. Additionally, Al-Nassr's new coach Jorge Jesus has reportedly given his approval for the move, as he worked with Fernandes at Sporting CP.
In a previous interview, Fernandes discussed his decision to stay at Manchester United, stating that he wanted to play in big competitions and felt capable of doing so. He also mentioned that Manchester United did not want to sell him, as they did not need the money.
