Penders will be replacing Djordje Petrovic, who spent the previous season on loan with Strasbourg and has since been transferred to Bournemouth. Both Chelsea and Strasbourg are owned and managed by BlueCo.
Mike Penders was signed by Chelsea from Genk in August 2024 and went on to make 26 first-team appearances for the Belgian club. He also received a call-up to Belgium's Under-21 national team during his time there.
